Stay Play Explore - Family Fun Short Break

Stay Play Explore - Family Fun Short Break

This week we took our little family on our first short break away together and decided to take advantage of the Stay Play Explore offer in Leicestershire.

They offer various types of mini breaks including family adventure, gourmet taste and theme parks but we chose the family fun option. This consisted of tickets for a family of 4 to 3 out of 5 attractions based in Leicestershire and includes an overnight stay at a 4* hotel with breakfast included for just £109!

The attractions to choose from were:

  • Conkers
  • Twinlakes Theme Park
  • Snibston Discovery Museum
  • National Space Centre
  • Twycross Zoo
We chose TwinlakesSnibston Discovery Museum and Twycross Zoo and stayed at the Hinckley Island Hotel. We also decided to book an extra night so we wouldn't be rushed to visit all 3 attractions in just 2 days which cost us an extra £70.

Snibston Discover Museum

Snibston Discovery Museum is a hands on kind of museum with many different kinds of interactive exhibits featuring trains, mining, toys and engineering.

(Adam learning how waves are made)

Outside they have a very large play area that also lots of way to discover and learn whilst having fun.

You can also take a tour of the colliery with an ex-miner, visit the century theatre or take a train ride on "Pitt" the diesel locomotive.

One of the areas outside we particular enjoyed was being able to have our picnic on old train wagon!

Twinlakes Theme Park

Twinlakes is set in 100 acres of countryside and features many family rides, attractions, animals and birds to see. Indoor play areas are great for when the weather isn't so fantastic and there is also a water play area for days when the sun is shinning.

Our two boys (and their daddy!) had a blast on all the different rides!

Twycross Zoo

Twycross Zoo is set on 80 acres of land and features over 150 different species to see and learn about including many endangered species.

The zoo is a renowned world primate centre with a wide variety of species on show.

Throughout the day there are animal feedings that you can watch. We chose to watch the adorable Humboldt penguins having their lunch which the kids adored seeing. The zoo keepers gave us lots of facts about the penguins and we learnt lots of stuff we'd never known about them befor.

The butterfly house was a favourite and it was lovely walking through and seeing all the different bright and colourful butterflies fluttering around us.

Overall Verdict

We would definitely recommend booking a short break with Stay Play Explore as it'd fantastic value for money and there are lots of options to meet all families needs.

REVIEW: Fisher-Price Rainforest Infant to Toddler Rocker

Fisher-Price Rainforest Infant to Toddler Rocker

Finding the right baby bouncer chair can be a difficult task with so many out there to choose from.

Isaac is on his third (and hopefully final) one and he has yet to turn 4 months old! His first one had a very nice toy bar but it was too low and the dip in the seat was too shallow so he grew out of it fast. His second chair had the right height for the toy bar and depth in the seat but unfortunately the straps just weren't strong enough to hold him up and they ended up cutting into his sides as his weight dragged them down.

By now we were pretty fed up of spending money on baby bouncer that just weren't ticking all the boxes. We took our time looking around for his new chair and can honestly say we're pretty impressed with the Fisher-Price Rainforest Infant to Toddler Rocker so far. Designed to last from birth to the toddler years this baby bouncer is definitely what we were looking for and here is my review.

This is a portable rocker that grows with baby, changing from a rocker to an infant seat as your child grows and develops.

The design on the well padded seat covering is Fisher-Prices signature Rainforest Friends motif which is bright and colourful. Removing it to clean is easy as it is attached with buckle clips and is both washer machine and dryer safe which is definitely a bonus! The well of chair gives baby comfort and security which is great for sleepy time.

The rocker also has a matching over-head toy bar which features a super cute baby lion and toy block and can be removed simply by unclipping it from the side of the frame. The lion is currently Isaacs favourite and you will often him shouting away as he's holding on to it.

This chair features a switch to turn on or off calming vibrations to help lull baby to sleep. This requires one D battery.

You can easily change from a rocker to a stationary seat by using the fold-out kickstands on the back of the base of the frame.

The seat also features a reclining backrest which can be adjusted at the back using the buckle clip.

The 3-position reclining frame can be adjusted by pressing the big green buttons which are featured on either side of the legs at front. This is fairly easy to do with both hands by using your palms. If you find it slightly difficult to do I would recommend changing a setting at a time, one side at a time until you get used to it. Isaac currently has it set to setting 2 as he prefers to be sat up so he can watch his brother play around him ;)

To add to it portability and for easy storage the rocker folds down flat too!

I hope you have enjoyed my review. If you have any questions or have one of these yourself I would love to hear about your experiences and thoughts. Thank you for reading :)

Cosmetic Candy UK Review and Giveaway!

Recently I had the pleasure of checking out a lovely little pop up stall in my local town center for Cosmetics Candy UK. They specialise in handmade body care products that are made right here in the UK and are against animal testing.

They're motto "luxury doesn't have to be expensive" is something that appeals to all women as who doesn't love to pamper without a hefty price tag?

Needless to say I was thrilled with all the cute designs and fabulously smelling products they had on offer. From bath bombs to body scrubs, lip balms to even a kiddies range, they had it all and it didn't cost me any where near what I would usually spend in my favourite bath goodies shop ;)

Here are a few products which I snapped up:

Rhubarb & Custard Bath Mallow

This was my favourite purchase as it smelt just like the real thing and left my skin feeling soft and moisturised without the need of creams afterwards. The bath mallows are so easy to use, you just simple pop them into a nice hot bath and watch them slowly fizz and melt into the water releasing all their lovely essential oils and fragrance.

Ripple-licious Butter Loop
The cuteness of the butter loops is crazy, they look like mini iced doughnuts! Not only did it look amazing it also smelt divine. As with the bath mallows you simply just pop into your bath and left them slowly melt away releasing it's cocoa butter, leaving you skin feeling incredible pampered.

Another great service Cosmetic Candy UK provide which is a brilliant idea if you love to have a night in catching up with friends is parties. You can browse their entire collecting from the comfort of your own home and try them out too. Host receive a 10% discount which is a bonus.
